National Unlimited Banger World Series Round 4 – 30/04/2017 – Northampton

The line-up included 186 Sophie Fasey in a Mk2 Granada estate.

247 Lee Clarke led the first heat as 469 Paul Quinnell spun on turn 1. 82 Tom Foster fenced 838 Jamie Peters on turn 1, before 143 Dan Rose spun on the home straight. 341 Andrew Jones fenced 312 Brad White on turn 4, before 162 Brett Ellacott dished out a T-bone to White. 171 Tommy West spun on turn 4 before taking a blitzing from 327 Micky Maskell Jnr. 312 White rejoined the race on the home straight, only to take a hit from 162 Ellacott, who steamed him into turn 1 and round the bend, White spinning on the back straight where he was dealt a heavy T-bone by 190 Steve Bailey. The red flags came out to check on White, with the result being declared and 247 Clarke the winner.

Heat 2 was led away by 717 Jack Tuffen, as 456 Nathan Roberts fenced 292 Sam Betteridge on turn 3. 17 Kyle Overy spun off turn 4, before 517 Sid Cooper spun 747 Eddie Cotton on the back straight. 25 Joe Parsons overhauled 717 Tuffen with four laps to run for the lead, going on for the win.

The Wildcard Final started with 16 Jamie Cox fencing 838 Peters on turn 1, before 382 Jack Foster Jnr blitzed 190 Bailey on the home straight. 239 Steve Carter met the spun 16 Cox head-on on turn 1 as the red flags came out to check on Bailey. 247 Clarke led the restart, as 239 Carter and 801 Mason Foster met head-on on turn 4, the red flags coming out again to check on Foster. 247 Clarke still led for the next restart, as 4 David Wilde spun off turn 4 and 469 Quinnell fenced 747 Cotton on turn 1, Quinnell running into the abandoned 16 Cox Merc. 341 Jones went on opposite on turn 2, and tried to hit the passing 247 Clarke, 516 Carl Gould then overhauling Clarke with three laps to go for the win, while Clarke hit 27 Dale Hughes on the back straight.

The Showdown saw 921 Jack Aldridge lead, as 17 Overy spun 469 Quinnell on the home straight. 717 Tuffen dashed up Aldridge’s inside down the back straight, only for Aldridge to hit Tuffen aside to retake the lead. 838 Peters went on opposite and collected 921 Aldridge on the last bend, handing the win to 717 Tuffen. The green flag waved again to start the DD, but most drivers dived for the safety of the infield, the red flags coming out again for a disappointing finish.
