Kings Lynn – 23/01/22 – Unlimited Bangers Icebreaker Teams

The annual Unlimited Icebreaker took place at Kings Lynn, kick starting their season off on Sunday 23rd January. 113 Lee Waller piloted a fresh Cadillac, and 195 David Forrest had a Lincoln Town Car Limo. 920 Terry Church had a Mk3 Ford Granada Limo. 555 Harry Gelsthorp had a Ford Fairline Limo, but it was 224 Graham Gamble and 950 Scott Gamble that impressed the most with a pair of Rolls Royce Silver Shadows.

There were several drivers that made the effort on the paint front, with 21 Jason Colbert, 51 James Licquorice, 67 Rickie Beasley, 84 Tom Harris, 178 Kieran Bowman, 213 Marc Watkins, 279 Bradley Bowman, 282 Bobby Daniels, 291 Jason Giddings, 307 Martin Kent, 349 Michael Allard, 388 Stevo McGrath and 721 Dan Clarke all having nicely signed motors. 

Heat 1 began with a big push into turn 1, which saw 410 Jake Calvert follow in 525 Nick Andrews, which claimed several others drivers creating a blockage. 291 Jason Giddings ran 519 Lee Middleton into the melee. 224 Yam Yam removed 455 Rikki Finney, before 950 Scott Gamble jacked 291 Giddings. 67 Rickie Beasley spun 230 Scott Paterson, who was duly tboned by 600 Josh Robinson. 950 Gambit again homed in on 291 Giddings. 760 Joey Reynolds and 224 Yam Yam clashed on the exit of turn 4, which saw the latter rattle the armco and then get driven through by 178 Kieran Bowman. 364 Bradley Lee raced to the win. Gamble pair 224 Graham and 950 Scott taking the 10 point entertainer awards, with 282 Mr Mad and 600 Robinson earning the 5 point awards.

Heat 2 commenced with 281 Aaron Pole dispatching 479 Joel Allen into the marker tyres at the end of the back straight, before getting spun himself by 349 Michael Allard. Several drivers came to grief behind 479 Jooble. 171 Tommy West followed in 112 Daz Prestage. 246 Aston Burt, in his returned Jaguar XK8, tboned 112 Daz. 279 Braderz set about 195 Grenade Dave, before 246 Burty Jnr rattled in 291 Seanie Bell. 246 Burty Jnr continued his lively start to the race by leathering 911 Toby Wilson. 146 Davey O’Connor removed 183 Mitch Banton. 246 Burty Jnr spun 592 Mark Marchant and then removed 195 Grenade Dave. 830 Lee White had a pop at 110 Garrie Mirza, as 349 Michael Allard took the win. 246 Burty Jnr and 171 Westy Jnr sharing the entertainer accolades.

440 Macauley Mills was the first to show in Heat 3, driving through 367 Darryl Scandrett. World Champion 217 Sid Madgwick spun 999 Dale Linton, as 440 Big Mac did the same to 838 Jamie Peters. 333 Charlie Randell weighed in on 838 Sloth, the latter also copping one from 382 Jack Foster Jnr. 239 Steve Carter homed in on 382 Chubby, as 881 Shane Brown weighed in on 195 Reece Marsh. 51 James Licquorice homed in for a solid jacking to 881 Brown and copped one himself from 83 Julian Grant. 801 Mason Foster blasted 239 Nemesis. 114 Liam Lake set about 333 Chaz, with 252 Steven Bugler steaming in for a revenge jacking to Lakey. 201 Phil Milner turned 328 Daniel Lathan fence-wards, allowing 107 Taylor Pratchett to deliver a head on to 328 Lathan. 570 Jordan Cumming homed in for a head on to the lurking 169 James Rushton. 440 Big Mac drove through 114 Lakey, as 201 Turk tboned 328 Lathan. 114 Lakey came under further attention from BRMC taking a hit from 333 Chaz, before 313 Craig Osborne leathered 201 Turk on the exit of turn 2. 188 John Reeves jacked 313 Oz-Cut, as 262 Rob Bugler raced to victory. Dover Boys pairing 51 Licquorice and 188 Victor took the main entertainer awards, with 83 JuJu, 201 Turk and 252 Boogie receiving the minor points entertainers.

Heat 4 begun with 366 Nathan Wrenn turning 215 Leonard Dunn fence-wards. 611 Joe Geeves spun 100 Callum White. 560 Steve Barker took a lunge at 103 Jack Deacon. 9 Tom Jordan went in on 103 Jacko, the latter recovering only to cop a hit on oppo from 100 Cock. 9 Jordan set about 477 Jack Spiers. 589 Simon Smith tried to do the leading 161 Billy Smith, but duly missed – Billy holding on to take the win, before getting spun after the line by 828 Jordan Sharpe. 560 Barker taking 5 points in the entertainer series.

911 Legohead had a bumpy ride at the start of Heat 5. 950 Gambit set about 171 Westy Jnr. 99 Scott Gough spun 146 Davey, before 830 Stretch had a pop at 911 Legohead. 99 Goffy removed 224 Lewis Canham. The Scrapyard Screamers Rollers came under fire, with 110 Mirza spinning 224 YamYam, before 92 Lee Edwards laid into 950 Gambit. Heat 2 winner 349 Allard followed in 279 Braderz, and duly rolled the Predator bringing out a stoppage. The restart saw 171 Westy Jnr run in 92 Eddie. 950 Gambit had a pop at 181 Grant Doe on oppo. 191 Kieran Greenway turned 506 Danny Mitchell fence-wards, before 183 Banton rattled 99 Goffy around the plating on the exit of turn 4. 278 Sean Brokenshire drove through 99 Goffy, which took out 349 Allard in turn. 349 Allard recovered to rattle in 592 Mark Marchant, with 278 Bean weighing in on 123 Kieron Grey. BRISCA F1 World Champion 84 Tom Harris showcased his driving ability taking the race win.

313 John Cullingford spun 999 Linton at the start of Heat 6, causing carnage behind as loads piled in on the power station bend. 816 Jack Weeks followed 341 Andrew Jones into 367 Scandrett. 760 Joey Reynolds spun 188 Victor, before 801 Foster removed 556 Matt Tillow. 217 Madgwick spun 51 Licquorice. 213 Woka looked to connect with an oppo attack on the oncoming Team Black charge around turns 1/2, slightly catching 760 Joey and 67 Beasley, but not enough to cause any damage. 816 Binx drove through 213 Woka. 570 Dino Jnr drove through 213 Woka, before 51 Licquorice jacked 816 Binx. 519 Knuckles jacked 816 Binx. 617 Jack Overy turned 21 Colbert left, before 570 Dino Jnr delivered a savage tbone to 211 Jamie Pole, immediately copping a solid revenge hit in turn from 169 Rushton. 169 Rushton stopped 617 Overy head on, which also claimed 217 Madgwick. 82 Tom Foster tboned 211 Poley, with 178 Slim delivering a rear wheel shot to 82 Big T. 341 Jonesey delivered a head on to 82 Big T. 239 Nemesis spun 178 Slim, before holding off an attack from 262 Roona; 67 Rickie Beasley taking the win this time around. The entertainer awards going the way of 213 Woka, 51 Licquorice, 519 Knuckles, 570 Dino Jnr and 169 Rushton.

356 Harry Overy attacked 7 Cade Bond to start Heat 7, before loads of drivers came to grief down the home straight. 882 Nathan Grant laid into 310 John Nicholson. The track cleared leaving 7 Bond sat prime at the end of the home straight; 390 David Gibson duly obliging to home in on the former. 466 Dalton Steele and 526 Jak D begun having a private DD between themselves, before 100 Cock followed in 247 Ashley Disdle. CrashZone pairing 526 Jak D and 113 Waller set about 266 Big Al on oppo. 800 Jacob Rushton laid into 600 Conroy. 390 Gibbo tboned 113 Waller. 390 Gibbo rejoined to pile into 113 Waller once again, and copped a passing hit from 624 Liam Hide. 828 Jordan Sharpe jacked 800 Rushton, the latter also coming under fire from 611 Geeves, before 230 Flatty turned 624 Lossy Jnr fence-wards. 299 Tommy Callaghan steamed head on into 800 Rushton, which stopped 555 Dirty Harry and 266 Big Al in their stride. 299 Callaghan again attacked 800 Rushton on oppo, setting him up nicely for a solid hit from 828 Sharpey. 252 Gareth Griffiths won, whilst 390 Gibbo and 113 Waller scooped entertainers.

Following Heat 7, we had a points update with all teams having competed in two heats each. The Race Points saw the Junkyard Blobs joined at the top by Team Black C and D, with Team Black B just behind. In the entertainers, Dover Boys had a strong lead over Barton Boys B and Scrapyard Screamers.

The next two heats saw the format change with the teams only being split two ways. Heat 8 begun with 400 Lee Kingsnorth setting about 519 Knuckles. The 313’s crashed out onto the infield, with Cully and Oz-Cut collecting a tractor tyre. 440 Big Mac spun 51 Licquorice left. Several drivers piled in on the power station bend, with the Barton Boys landing a couple of hits on 570 Dino Jnr. 262 Roona found 114 Lakey and landed a hit on the Autospeed World Champion. The reds were then called for a fire on 82 Big T. 318 Oliver Marshall was the first to show on the restart, rattling in 188 Victor. A sort out along the back straight left 116 No Luck Nat and 281 A Pole, among others, sat prone. 195 Grenade Dave buried 198 Zach Clements. 51 Licquorice leathered the limo of 195 Grenade Dave. 341 Jonesey delivered a head on to 801 Foster. 92 Eddie and 169 Rushton took it in turns to jack 801 Foster. 382 Chubby weighed in on 169 Rushton, before 178 Slim delivered a solid jacking to 51 Licquorice. 183 Banton tboned 801 Foster on oppo. 110 Mirza leathered 400 Kingsnorth. 239 Nemesis jacked 382 Chubby, with the reds coming out for the latter. The restart saw 341 Jonesey attacked 362 Johnny James on oppo. 239 Nemesis jacked 362 Drifter. 281 A Pole spun the leading 577 Alfie Lee, allowing 67 Rickie Beasley to take the win. Barton Boys took the majority of entertainer points, with 183 Banton, 169 Rushton and 195 Dipper collecting an award, alongside 195 Grenade Dave, 382 Chubby and 341 Jonesey.

Heat 9 begun with 191 Corey following in 247 Disdle. 229 Sean Riddell and 600 Conroy tangled. 466 Dalto blasted 229 Riddell. 542 Craig Oliver followed in 161 Smith, who then copped a tbone from 349 Lewis Price. 246 Burty Jnr and 43 Nicky Bishop shared a head on, with 278 Bean going in on 600 Conroy, as the reds came out to assist 161 Smith. The restart saw 279 Braderz bury 32 Connor Byram into a parked car. 278 Bean tboned 828 Sharpey, before 84 Harris spun 560 Barker. 279 Braderz attacked 84 Harris on oppo, with 100 Cock going in over the passenger front wheel of Harris. 560 Barker tboned 84 Harris, as 555 Dirty Harry went in on 279 Braderz. 279 Braderz stopped 103 Jacko on oppo and copped one from 215 Leonard Dunn. 215 Murph then attacked 191 Corey, with the former coming under fire from 171 Westy Jnr. 84 Harris and 100 Cock shared a solid head on, with 555 Dirty Harry jacking the Aftermath man. 215 Murph weighed in on 100 Cock on oppo, with 3 Mitch Finney also delivering a savage shot to Cock. 555 Dirty Harry delivered a head on to 279 Braderz as the reds were called for a fire on 100 Cock’s Jaguar. 549 Phil Smith being declared the winner. The entertainer awards going the way of 84 Harris, 100 Cock, 279 Braderz, 542 Oliver and 555 Dirty Harry.

Heading into the Final, Team Black D headed the ranks by 10 points over Junkyard Blobs and Team Black C, whilst Barton Boys B now lead the entertainer points by 20 over Dover Boys. With a packed field of cars, the inevitable first lap push on the power station bend occurred. 67 Beasley spun 349 Noddy. 555 Dirty Harry delivered a stiff hit to 198 Clemo. 440 Big Mac put away 201 Turk as the reds came out. The restart saw 624 Lossy Jnr spin 838 Sloth. 627 Terry Coke dispatched 183 Banton towards the fence. 838 Sloth clobbered the backing out Previa of 519 Knuckles. 555 Dirty Harry and 278 Bean shared a head on, as 838 Sloth found himself broadside at the end of the back straight. 333 Chaz took the opportunity to leather his DWO rival. 215 Murph spun 178 Slim. 589 Gonna clipped 230 Flatty, putting a wheel back. Several drivers came to grief on the exit of turn 2, with 103 Jacko landing a rear wheel shot on 191 Corey. 281 A Pole followed in 440 Big Mac, before being on the receiving end of a head on courtesy of 555 Dirty Harry. 299 Callaghan ran 171 Westy Jnr into the dead cars on the power station bend. 188 Victor drove through the spun 577 Fonzo. 570 Dino Jnr weighed in on for a shot on the nose of the spun 198 Clemo. 217 Madgwick was in the centre of the action managing to land a blow on 281 A Pole, but then fell foul of 178 Slim and 201 Turk. 271 Ashlun Woods buried 107 Pratchett, and was done in turn by 3 Finney. 252 Blobby set about 201 Turk and was done in turn by 178 Slim. 188 Victor jacked 271 Woodszy. 201 Turk went into the pile up, and was duly leathered by 299 Callaghan. 178 Slim tboned 3 Finney, and was jacked in turn by 400 Kingsnorth. 211 Poley homed in for a hard shot to 570 Dino Jnr, as 51 Licquorice weighed in on 84 Harris. 252 Boogie jacked 51 Licquorice and was done in turn by 299 Callaghan. 171 Westy Jnr went in on 299 Callaghan as the power station bend again became congested. 333 Chaz ran 367 Scandrett into the melee. 542 Oliver ran 291 Bell into 333 Chaz. 171 Westy Jnr jacked 542 Oliver. 617 Overy blasted 279 Braderz on oppo as 84 Harris went in on 333 Chaz. The pile up cleared slightly, allowing 171 Westy Jnr to steam in for a head on to 299 Callaghan. 400 Kingsnorth went in on 171 Westy Jnr. 215 Leonard Dunn took the win, ahead of 542 Oliver, who dispatched of 830 Stretch on route his second place finish; 262 Roona finishing third. This meant that Team Black D clinched the title with 40 points, with Gladiators, Junkyard Blobs and Team Black B coming joint second on 30 points. The entertainer awards went the way of 281 A Pole, 188 Victor and 87 Damo, which meant Barton Boys B just pipped Dover Boys to the entertainer honours, with Predators A securing third.

Around 15 drivers survived the hard-fought final to make it to the DD. 211 Poley bombed down the home straight to pile head on into 617 Overy. 388 Little Stevo leathered 400 Kingsnorth, and took a hard shot in turn from 262 Roona. 217 Madgwick went in on 627 Cokey, before 262 Roona weighed in on 211 Poley. 862 Eglington set about 217 Madgwick. 262 Roona steamed in on 862 Eglington. 291 Bell jacked 217 Madgwick, with the reds coming out for 862 Eglington. The DD being declared in favour of 262 Roona.

A fantastic start to the 2022 Trackstar season, highlighting how good a hard hitting Unlimited session can be.
