Yarmouth – 21/6/25 – Unlimited Bangers BWS Round 5 – Meeting Report

The fifth round of the Banger World Series saw the return of a Saturday night Yarmouth slot which proved popular with drivers and fans alike with the pits rammed for and the car parks equally so. 521 Ashley Riley continued to provide on the material front with a 1956 Buick Century 4-door sedan. 223 Brett Harrison had another limo, with a Ford Falcon version whilst 341 Andrew Jones and 24 Patric Hughes were also limo powered with a Mercedes W210 and Ford Scorpio. 360 Jack Reynolds went back down the Volvo route with a 240 Estate. 323 Dean Kelly continued the theme of rare Jaguars, with an X330 Super V8 (essentially an x308 Majestic). 108 Lewis Jefcoate returned his 2024 Waller Reunion 2-door Plymouth Roadrunner. Some more variety came the way of a Mk3 Ford Granada for 87 Liam Harvey and a Vauxhall Omega for 421 Josh Mayo. Several drivers impressed on the paint front also including 512 Kieran Rowe.

512 Kieran Rowe and 333 Charlie Randell were front row Heat 1. It was all regiment for the first couple of laps before a push coming out of the pits bend saw 784 Tommy Killick and 121 Ronnie Hawkins bounce a post with many going in behind. 223 Brett Harrison weighed in on 143 Daniel Rose before 521 Ashley Riley jacked 121 Rocket. 333 Chaz spun 16 Carl Gould. 223 Bushy weighed in on 521 Ace Ash. A sort out on the entrance of the home straight saw 77 Patxi Beasley well wrecked in a mix with 121 Leo Riley and 133 Ben Wyatt. 223 Bushy blasted 121 Big Show. 521 Ace Ash ran the ropes on the pits bend as the steering broke on his Buick, eventually catching a post which sat him up for a jacking from 223 Bushy. 43 Luke Maynard delivered a revenge shot to Bushy. 512 Rowe tangled with 11 Harry Wells, which resulted in him being spun by 516 Callum Gould. 673 Darren Fendley spun under pressure from 57 Georgie Boult Jnr. 11 Dirty Harry spun 327 Mick Maskell Jnr. The former then went in hard at the end of the back straight as his throttle stuck. 67 Rickie Beasley spun 133 Terry Hill. Rickie going on to take the win.

Heat 2 saw 132 Connor Dando and 350 Liam Webster off the front row. A push into the Caister bend saw 669 Cal Curtis run 696 Ashley Rawlings which left the latter’s Mercedes estate well wrecked. World of Shale Champion 639 Tye Williams spun 87 Liam Harvey as the reds came out for 696 Rawlings. 132 Baba caught a post and was leathered by 323 Dean Kelly. 77 Aaron Charles went in on Deano, as 639 Tye Pitate spun 742 Toby Parfitt and 2L ORC World Champion removed 440 Lennon Phillips. The reds came out once again, this time for 132 Baba. 701 Riley Marsh lead them off from the green. 6 Troy Jones spun 455 Haydon Hawes. 887 Rob Browning spun and was done head on by 77 Aario. 323 Deano jacked Aario. The pair got wedged together with Aario piggy-backing Deano around the track for several laps. 701 The Nuisance and 177 Lewis Ivatt getting black crossed as they dived up the inside of the pair via the curb on the pits bend. A rear puncture for 440 Lemon saw him spun in front of the leading 349 Michael Allard which saw the latter’s front wheel get knocked loose seeing him retire. 177 Ivatt took the win but the top two got docked for the aforementioned black crosses seeing 639 Tye Pirate take the win.

The third Heat saw 577 Alfie Lee and 89 Joe Barrett off the front row. 820 Martyn Perkins sent 555 Harry Gelsthorp spinning across the centre green grass at the end of the home straight before 838 Jamie Peters did the spun 24 Patric Hughes with a solid head on. 625 Josh Gooch weighed in on Peters as 341 Andrew Jones went in over the front wheel of 927 Carl Lindsay – Lindsay copping it once again, this time from 360 Jack Reynolds. 623 Ricky Hutton got spun by 562 Louis Baker as the pack avoided the carnage on the exit of turn 2. 108 Lewis Jefcoate attacked 06 Tommy Rawsthorne on oppo. 444 Charlie Jackson tangled with 820 Maggot. 108 Squeaky was spun aside by the leading 617 Jack Overy. The former turned it on oppo with 555 Dirty Harry squaring him up. Squeaky then copped it from a combination of hits from Dirty Harry and 625 Gucci. 341 Jonesey weighed in on Gucci before being on the receiving end of a jacking from 623 Tricky. 555 Dirty Harry came round to steam in on Tricky which blocked the entirety of the entrance to the back straight seeing all other drivers divert to the infield centre green to get through. This caused a drain cover to lift bringing a stoppage and ultimately the race end as it was red and chequered with 617 Overy taking the win.

The first Consolation saw 57 Rowdy and 143 Rose off the front row. 459 Blake Platts punted 77 Patch and got caught up with the Team Black seeing the pair go offline in a tangle alongside 512 Kieron Rowe. 455 Ricki Finney spun 325 Josh Hanser as 6 Troy Jones did the same to 264 Mark Welland. 16 Carl Gould spun 143 Rose, with 327 Maskell Jnr and 348 Sonny Sherwood also spinning. 6 Jones was left stranded at the end of the back straight, with 121 Big Show delivering a huge shot to the former. 16 Gouldy worked his way past 57 Rowdy around the half way stage to take the lead. The action quietened down, with the leading Gouldy spinning 817 Kurt Jacobs. 57 Rowdy went in with a well-timed last bend lunge on 16 Gouldy to take the win.

The second Consolation started with a push into the Caister bend seeing 199 Shaydy and 562 Baker visit the fence. 349 Allard, 323 Kieran Tweed and 195 David Forrest were all early spinners. Allard spun 562 Baker, the latter rejoining only to get lined up for a head on by 108 Squeaky which he kept the foot in for. Baker’s Ford Scorpio burst into flames but soon extinguished when 623 Tricky weighed in on him. 817 Stig attacked Tricky before the reds came out for Baker. 21 Dean Tompkins lead them away on the restart from 327 Maskell Jnr and 06 Tommy Rawsthorne. 349 Allard spun 133 Werzal. 623 Tricky went for an attack on oppo to 817 Stig, but failed to connect with Allard running in to the former. 742 Toby Parfitt struck 820 Martyn Perkins on oppo, as 887 Browning raced to the win. 838 Peters weighed in on 623 Tricky, whilst 349 Allard turned it around on the infield down the back straight to get a run up, coming across the grass to lay into 623 Tricky to round off the action.

In a rare moment for the BWS, all heat winners found themselves off the front for the Final. 701 The Nuisance was spun fence-wards and collected by 673 Dazza. Several went in down on the Caister bend whilst 121 Big Show, 199 Shaydy and 555 Dirty Harry all span to the infield down the back straight. 84 Peach had 542 Oliver around, with 06 Tommy also spinning courtesy of 887 Browning. 323 Deano visited the fence and was jacked by 341 Jonesey. 623 Tricky weighed in on Jonesey. 223 Bushy weighed in on Deano before copping a big jacking from 121 Big Show. 673 Dazza lost a wheel and collected 223 Bushy, only to be blown up by 625 Gucci. 623 Tricky went in on Gucci and got himself wedged against a post. 577 Alfie Lee spun 617 Overy. 121 Big Show latched onto 341 Jonesey and buried him into Tricky which sent 916 Luke Thomas spinning. 526 Jack Denikiewicz tangled with 625 Gucci as 333 Charlie Randell homed in on Jonesey and managed to back off in time to allow 199 Shaydy to also go in on the DWO man. Gucci pulled across the pack and got spun aside by 739 Jason Moore. 57 Rowdy tangled with 56 Ricky Clarke which saw the former crash out into the turn 2 carnage alongside 542 Oliver. 121 Big Show and 555 Dirty Harry shared a solid head on which appeared to see the Bears young gun get knocked out on impact. The red flags coming out for Leo but that not stopping 171 Tommy West from jacking him and 838 Peters running 199 Shaydy into him. 577 Fonzo lead them away on the green from 639 Tye Pirate and 209 Tom Waller. Fonzo counted down the laps to take the win and book his spot on the World Final grid.

It was a busy track for the Showdown. The typical Caister bend push saw 67 Beasley bounce in 887 Browning and 146 Dan Wigman get buried by 243 Bodja. 121 Big Show tboned Wiggy and copped one in turn from 817 Stig. Others scattered to the infield as cars went in all directions with 77 Aario steaming in on 56 Clarke. The reds then coming out for 146 Wiggy. The restart wasn’t kind to Damage Inc, with 548 Alex Utting, 350 Liam Webster and 742 Lerone all suffering spins. 28 Jamesy and 67 Beasley tangled with 209 Tombo running into the former. 24 Patrico drove through Tombo and came under fire from the pack resulting in Patrico and 542 Oliver get spat fence-wards. 838 Peters and 784 Killick spun in unison with 701 The Nuisance and 455 Finney the attackers. 43 Muttley Jnr had a pop at 24 Patrico and got spun aside by 455 Finney, with the Silver Boys driver being spun himself by The Nuisance. 742 Lerone was the next casualty tangling with 701 The Nuisance seeing him spin to the infield. 195 Grenade Dave had a pop at 24 Patrico. 887 Browning took his second win of the evening, as 105 Tompkins got put up a post on the pits bend. Patrico weighed in on Tompkins with 838 Peters attacking 548 Big Al which dumped the race winner into Patrico to round off the action.

A superb round, probably one of the best seen at Yarmouth over the years. The series moves to Eastbourne for round 6, the penultimate round, where the action will continue.
