Unlimited World Qualifying – 11/08/2013 – Yarmouth

Yarmouth Stadium played host to its yearly Unlimited World Qualifying round on Sunday 11th August 2013, having staged the BWS round earlier in the year. 516 Carl Gould returned his 2010 World Final Mk1 Ford Granada and 331 Jason Jackson returned his green Mk1 Ford Granada. The rest of the field being your standard Unlimiteds.

Just over 20 cars for Heat 1, which begun with 821 Dangerous spinning 2 Spooky. 17 Chiefy spun 535 Captain Crash for the lead, but the former didn’t stay there long as he was bested by 247 Bro with 5 laps to go. 757 T-Boy spun 533 Coe to conclude the action m; 247 Lee Clarke taking the win.

Heat 2 started with 2 Spook taking 821 Dangerous and 160 Winsor in from the off. 206 Turkish jacked 2 Spooky hard which ended the race for all four. 33 Magic buried 757 T-Boy as he looked to move up the order. 247 Bro clashed with a 548 Magpie, breaking his steering, seeing both visit the fence on the Caister bend. 516 Gouldy bested 898 Battle for the lead around the half way stage. 331 Boxer Jack punted 516 Gouldy wide to take the lead and he held that lead to win.

The Final saw 535 Captain Crash deliver the first blow as he spun 542 Oliver. 433 Smith went for a spin on the home straight, whilst 898 Battle put the bumper in on 533 Coe. 331 Boxer Jack had a pop at 516 Gouldy which also dislodged 17 Chiefy to see the World Champion take up the running. Boxer Jack shed a wheel a few laps later on the pits bend, gifting the lead to 247 Bro with 4 laps to go where he held on for victory from 516 Carl Gould and 17 Kyle Overy.

The DD saw only 3 drivers up for the occasion, all from the Gladiators camp in the form of 533 Coe, 206 Turkish and 548 Magpie. 548 Magpie had a nibble at 533 Coe. 206 Turkish jacked 533 Coe who had lost a wheel. 533 Coe delivered a front wheel shot to 206 Turkish but expired himself in the process, handing the honours to 206 Phil Milner.
