Unlimited National Banger World Series Round 3 – 02/04/2017 – Yarmouth

Round 3 of the Unlimited Banger World Series, with the biggest turnout Yarmouth Stadium has seen for the event since its creation. A sunny afternoon on the seaside saw 60 cars flock in the pits; one of the busiest pits the track has seen in a long while. Many drivers put in serious miles with The Mob from Scotland and the DWO team from West Country. The field was boosted by many drivers that weren’t on the booking list including a great turnout from The Bears.

Heat 1 saw an exact half car split with 30 cars. 87 Damo Matthews spun 266 Odd Job. 676 turned 570 Dino Jnr left, with 887 Browning treating the former to the same treatment. 87 Damo again attacked 266 Odd Job, as 33 Magic ran 221 Motormouth into 226 Odd Job. 160 Winsor buried 33 Magic as they were trying to avoid the spun Odd Job rodius. 311 Golden Boy and 570 Dino Jnr shared a head on, with the former recovering to back into 209 Tombo. 41 Balu posted 733 Picton and 221 Motormouth buried 887 Browning. 4 Wildy spun 221 Motormouth. 311 Golden Boy done 4 Wildy on oppo, as 204 Charlie Boy put in 41 Balu. 537 Bruno attacked 41 Balu. 33 Magic spins 221 Motormouth. 516 Gouldy taking the win.

Heat 2 saw 29 cars, with long distance traveller 880 Naisy being the only one who hadn’t made the track. 821 Dangerous met 190 Pikey head on, with 247 Bro jacking 190 Pikey. 180 Sparky treated 162 Bad Boy to a big head on. 415 Corn Dog destroyed 339 Garrod. 341 Jonesy done 180 Sparky head on, with 247 Bro weighing in on 341 Jonesy. 331 Boxer attacked 517 Sidders. 341 Jonesy jacked 180 Sparky, with retaliation coming in the form of a hard hit from 382 Chubby. 111 Cotton Eye Joe and 747 Cotton took on the Midnight Runners, with 415 Corn Dog blitzing 111 Joe. 247 Bro tboned 162 Bad Boy who was stuck on the marker tyres, rolling him on impact bringing the race to a holt. At this point, 114 Lakey lead from 622 Gazza and 787 Key. The restart was fairly action-less with 114 Liam Lake holding on for the victory.

The Wild Card final featured an impressive 47 cars, with a massive first bend pile up ensuing. 247 Bro and 821 Dangerous combined to stop 341 Jonesy, 382 Chubby tboning 341 Jonesy. The drivers continued to pile into the Caister bend, 82 Big T destroyed 190 Pikey. 209 Tombo jacked 143 Rose, 521 Ace Ash blitzing 209 Tombo. The reds came out for 190 Pikey, Spedeworth taking the opportunity to disqualify several drivers for corner cutting in the earlier pile up leaving around 12 cars for the restart. The sort out of drivers left 87 Damo to head the pack from 433 Ben Smith and 89 Panda. 787 Key buried 548 Big Al, as 306 Bell attacked 433 Smith. 367 Keep done 160 Winsor on oppo twice, before stopping the leading 87 Damo. 87 Damo delivered a revenge attack on 367 Keep. 367 Keep dished a big hit to 787 Key, 87 Damo weighed in on 367 Keep. 89 Panda claimed the wildcard with only 5 drivers finishing the race.

The Showdown attracted only 28 cars.
87 Damo the first to show as he attacked 367 Keep. 415 Corndog dished a nasty front wheel hit to 887 Browning, with the red flags coming out to assist 887 Browning. 87 Damo again wasted little time setting about 367 Keep on the restart. 209 Tombo delivered a head on to 311 Golden Boy’s rodius in his tramping frog eye. 247 Bro destroyed 367 Keep. 180 Sparky collected 209 Tombo, before stopping 733 Picton on oppo. 821 Dangerous stopped 17 Chiefy. 82 Big T jacked 821 Dangerous, 247 Bro delivering a revenge shot to 82 Big T, as 331 Boxer raced to the win.
