Heavy Metal Classic – 06/01/2019 – Standlake Arena

The annual Heavy Metal Classic at Standlake raised 201 cars on Sunday 6th January across four classes. There was plenty of machinery on display including a hattrick of trios as three was clearly the magic number on the day – Team Black brought three fresh Ford Cortina’s for the Unders Classics, whilst Damage Inc went one better with a trio of matching Mk5 Cortinas. Team Filmer had three Daimler DS420s, with brothers 883 Jack and 884 Tom having limo variants whilst father 401 Trevor had a Hearse. 535 Tommy Cox was another with a Daimler DS420 Limo. 476 Ross Coleman had a smart Austin FX4 Taxi and there was plenty of used material in the Unlimiteds too. There was plenty of material in the Unders Classics too with several Bluebirds and Cortinas. There was a pair of Toyota Cressida X60s for 107 Josh Gent and 184 Andy Nuttley. 260 Keith Reynolds had a rare Chevrolet Beretta. 439 Danny Sutton made the trip down with an Austin Princess Hearse. There was a couple of bits of bilge too; 27 Dean Quinn had a Ford Escort Chairman and 268 Gavin Barnett had a Citroen Visa. 7 Aaron Charles had a homemade Nissan Micra Limo for the Micro class.

The Micro Bangers kicked off the afternoon’s action with Heat 1. 5 Jefferson was an early casualty as he was turned fencewards and subsequently blasted by 792 Barmy Baz. 112 Tiger was brushed aside by the pack and collected by 851 Bode. 321 Chatty Man followed in 710 Wilkins. 746 YoYo Jnr attacked 725 Hobbs and then came under fire from 711. 620 Brice attacked 315 Sherlock and eventually spun him. 127 Clarkey got put away and was subsequently done over the back wheel by 784 Irish Andy.

Micro Bangers Heat 2 was next. The race started with a few early skirmishes. 747 Bradderz attacked 321 Rugrat. 217 Oleg collected 747 Bradderz. 737 Crash and 435 No Show set about 391 Lil Spikey. 226 Bricknell attacked 737 Crash. 572 Squirt spun 214 Oleg who was jacked hard by 102 Bokie. 747 Bradderz immediately homed in on 102 Bokie. 474 Smiffy turned it around the avenge PVR teammate 214 Oleg, blasting 102 Bokie. 391 Spikey followed in 737 Crash into his teammate.

The Unders Classics were next up. 821 Dangerous latched onto 591 Morris to run him in with an assist from running mate 548 Big Al which all also claimed 169 JT. 360 Jackstar rattled in 384 Goldie.

The second set of Unders Classic were out next with 268 Barnett following in 439 Sutty from the off splintering the latter’s Hearse. 920 Churchy spun 815 Castle. 27 Quinny homed in on the limping 439 Sutty which allowed 161 Hutson to tbone the latter.

Race 5 was first race for the Unders. 792 Barmy Baz was the first casualty as he was spun aside by 425 Bolt. 535 Tommy followed in 742 Titch. 18 Burgess set about 299 Quinton putting him into 742 Titch. 254 Titty Dave laid into 299 Quinton. The reds then came out on track. 23 James attacked 702 Whittaker which concluded the action.

The Unlimiteds were next up for their first heat of the day. 323 Kelly was an early spinner. 230 Muttley spat aside 476 Rosco before 418 Amiebabyee spun on the back straight. 476 Rosco tangled with 523 Swampy and copped a shot from 103 Jacko. 747 Bradderz ran in 381 Joycey. 747 Bradderz expired on the back straight and copped a shot from 77 Patch. 401 Shaggy trashed 523 Swampy with a solid shot. 64 Gaz set about 535 Tommy only to be ruined by 323 Kelly. 77 Patch gave a head on to 747 Bradderz, whose Limo was now broadside across the straight which caught a few drivers out. 388 Lump buried himself well into 747 Bradderz. 77 Patch ran 91 Bartz into the lame 523 Swampy. 883 Filmer homed in on 91 Bartz.

Micro Bangers continued the action for their next heat. 321 Chatty Man assaulted 84 Langridge. 760 Joey had a pop at 161 the Entertainer. 315 Sherlock followed 7 Aario into the lame 784 Irish Andy. 792 Barmy Baz attacked 7 Aario but got caught up on the latter. 620 Brice jacked 792 Barmy Baz and was jacked immediately in turn by 7 Smurf. 333 Chaz jacked the recovering 7 Smurf rolling on impact bringing out a red flag. The restart saw 160 Ginge set about 127 Clarkey. 100 McClean jacked 127 Clarkey. 226 Bricknell jacked 100 McClean. 112 Tiger met 100 McClean on the nose before 160 Ginge blitzed an unseen driver. 468 Quinnell jacked 153.

Unders Classics started with 17 Chiefy running in 107 Gent. 437 Burbridge weighed in on 17 Chiefy and came under attack straight away from 702 Jimbo. 103 Bugler set about a few on oppo. 363 Trummer set about 437 Burbridge who was then dispatched by 101 Forrester to add to his troubles. 591 Morris set about 77 Patch as 821 Dangerous tboned the spun 856 Twinkles. 363 Trummer met the spun 856 Twinkles on the nose.

The Unders Classics were out once again with 161 Hutson setting the action rolling by rattling 10 Daz around the plating. 27 Quinny met 293 Williams on the nose and was duly set about by 205 Ganter. 268 Barnett experienced some steering issues which saw him bounce himself off the playing only to be driven through by 651 Louiz. 260 Keefy put away 706 Rowe in bizzare fashion.

The Modern Unders were back for their second heat. 90 Bartz ran in 771 Roberts which also sent 242 Quinn in hard. 525 Read clipped the front wheel of 771 Roberts which catapulted the passing 720 Bates airborne. 274 Lew jacked 102 Bauke. 760 Joey punted on 771 Roberts which took out 44 Bunny as well, while 90 Bartz put 274 Lew away. 274 Lew responded with a head on to his attacker. This allowed 184 Gaughan to jack 90 Bartz.

Unders were back again for their third heat. 535 Cox followed in a Black Focus. 499 Charles put away 71 Elmo. A Black Focus did 747 Piglet hard up against the armco. 545 Wilkins jacked the Focus. 535 Cox jacked the lame 747 Piglet.

The Unlimiteds were back for their second heat. 226 Bricknell went in lamely on the back of the recovering 476 Rosco. 91 Bartz met the spun 989 Petitt on the nose. 883 Filmer attacked 91 Bartz allowing 989 Pumpkin to have a revenge shot on his attacker. 77 Patch went in on 989 Pumpkin spinning him around. 907 Bradford ruined 381 Joycey. 883 Filmer went in on the back of 907 Bradford. 476 Rosco done 226 Bricknell head on. 418 Amiebabyee attacked 747 Bradderz. 77 Patch jacked 230 Muttley. 989 Pumpkin administered an oppo attack on 747 Bradderz. 384 Goldie attacked the limping 476 Rosco. 323 Kelly set about 226 Bricknell. 77 Patch spun it around to blast 91 Bartz on oppo. Team Black running mate 103 Jacko did exactly the same as 91 Bartz was prone for a shot. 323 Kelly weighed in on 476 Rosco. 401 Shaggy delivered a monster shot on 747 Bradderz which unearthed the latter by a fair distance. 77 Patch went in over the back wheel of 747 Bradderz as 103 Jacko was looking to drive through the latter on oppo. 384 Goldie dispatched 989 Pumpkin at the end of the home straight. 884 Filmer attempted to push 103 Jacko over the marker tyres with little effect.

The third heat for the Unlimiteds was up next including World Champion 124 Oris. 240 Setters and 75 Cory tangled as they battled for position towards the front of the pack. 88 Ballbag spun out. 660 Podge spun and was blasted over the front wheel from 186 Slaymaker. 90 Bartz was spun by 356 Plater; reversing his attacker in the fence also claiming 999 Picton. 240 Setters happily obliged to jack 999 Picton. 88 Ballbag weighed in on 240 Setters allowing the latter to break free from Picton’s Volvo. 460 Friend jacked 88 Ballbag to come under fire from 468 Quinnell. 244 Bunny Jnr spun as 186 Slaymaker weighed in on 468 Quinnell. 468 Quinnell recovered to blast 840 Shep who had been sat up a while. Revenge was swift as 240 Setters attacked 468 Quinnell. 162 the Viking was pushed wide running into 88 Ballbag. 240 Setters delivered a rear wheel shot to the latter to add to his troubles which concluded the action.

The Micro Bangers had their fourth heat of the afternoon next. 468 Quinnell was spat left at the end of the home straight by the pack. At the other end of the home straight, 84 Langridge and 792 Barmy Baz collided. 226 Bricknell attacked 7 Smurf. 161 the Entertainer completely went against the run of play and delivered a DSU shot to the front wheel of 414 Craig – the latter responding with a revenge shot of the same calibre. Their was a big push into the entrance of turns 1/2 – 321 Rugrat blasted 112 Tiger. 747 Bradderz rolled after clipping the back wheel of 468 Quinnell’s KA bringing a race stoppage. The restart saw 84 Peach get buried by 792 Barmy Baz which also claimed 5 Jefferson. 112 Tiger went in on 625 Gucci with 7 Smurf going in on the back of the former. 760 Joey jacked 84 Peach. 7 Aario dispatched 5 Jefferson; 721 Gabriel went in over the rear wheel of the latter. 7 Aario continued his wrecking spree by following in 468 Quinnell. 820 Maggot dumped in 6 Holdsworth into the growing melee of broken cars. 613 White tboned 5 Jefferson – the latter not very pleased with the hit. 315 Sherlock followed in 572 Squirt.

The Unders Classics were next with 439 Sutty working wonders to get out once again but cruelly expired early on. 909 Duff attacked 107 Gent. 815 Castle ran in a Swindon Vigilante. 17 Chief buried 208 Into SV. 27 Quinny ran 101 Forrester into SV. 920 Churchy followed 437 Burbridge in a treat absolutely snapping the latter’s Capri bringing out the reds. The restart saw 746 YoYo Jnr take a wild swipe at 440 Big Mac. 208 Jacked 363 Trummer and was immediately done by 77 Patch. 302 Baker attacked 205 Ganter and ran into 440 Big Mac. 161 Hutson had a pop at 909 Duff only to come under fire from 528 Jethro. 162 put away 260 Keefy in a heavy manner. 169 JT gave a head on to 363 Trummer, with 360 Jackstar going in on the back of the latter. 77 Patch attacked 161 Hutson running him into 169 JT who was still sat on oppo. 169 JT shed a wheel to bring out the reds.

23 James followed somebody in a treat to mark the start of the action for the next Unders Heat. 545 Wilkins then smeared 23 James around the plating. 102 Bauke jacked 545 Wilkins. 274 Lew weighed in hard on 102 Bauke. 244 Bunny Jnr delivered a hard shot to 391 Spikey in their continued war. 909 Duff followed 254 Titty Dave into 244 Bunny Jnr’s passenger doors. 226 Bricknell tboned 244 Bunny Jnr. 184 Gaughan jacked 226 Bricknell leaving him prone to a large head on from 44 Bunny. 274 Lew went in on 44 Bunny. 742 Titch jacked 226 Bricknell.

The Unlimited Final commenced with cars going in all directions. 230 Muttley drove through the all welcoming 747 Bradderz. 660 Rooge went in on the back of 230 Muttley. 77 Patch decimated 349 Lightbulb. 240 Setters jacked 460 Friend, who then took a rear shell shot from 77 Patch. 4 Wildy took a lame hit over the rear wheel from 388 Lump. World Champion 124 Carl Korszewski took the win ahead of 907 Cameron Bradford and 528 Alan Hunt.

The Micro Final commenced with 5 Jefferson running 613 White straight into 84 Langridge. 528 Wise rattled in 468 Quinnell. 572 Squirt caught 84 Langridge as he was passing and copped a head on from 160 Ginge. 161 the Entertainer went in on the back of 784 Irish Andy. 315 Sherlock then went in on the back of 161 the Entertainer. 528 Guy Wise took the win ahead of 260 Keith Reynolds and 391 Adam Bligdon.

The Unders Classics Final was next with 17 Chiefy starting the action by thundering in 298. 360 Jackstar laid into 161 Charlie Boy who immediately went on oppo meeting 702 Jimbo in a hard embrace. 77 Patch attacked 10 Daz on oppo and then went on to blast 360 Jackstar who was latched on the back of 205 Ganter. 528 Alan Hunt took the win ahead of 920 Terry Church and 2 Jon Bricknell.

The Final for the Unders was next and commenced with 254 Titty Dave receiving a rather strange DSU hit. 794 Seany attacked 7 Aario; the latter then copping one on the nose from 242. 535 Cox then put away 7 Aario. 499 Lee Charles took the win ahead of McPhillmey brothers 425 Neil and 427 Dean in third.

The Unlimiteds Alcomers saw 77 Patch blast 747 Bradderz from the off. This allowed 240 Setters to bury himself in the back of the Lincoln Town Car Limo in an impressive manner. 77 Patch then turned it around to deliver a massive air time jacking on the Real Steel man. 77 Patch continued to assault 747 Bradderz who was more than happy to take the hits. 884 Tom Filmer took the win in his DS420 Limo.

The Micros were up once again for their Alcomers. 7 Aario used his limo to assault 784 Irish Andy. 333 Chaz then buried 7 Aario into 315 Sherlock. 468 Quinnell and 784 Irish Andy had a bizzare coming together at the end of the home straight seeing both cars spin 360 degrees. 161 the Entertainer delivered a large jacking to 7 Aario. 784 Irish Andy went in over the rear wheel of 7 Aario. 528 Wise collected 921 Aldridge on the nose which allowed 333 Chaz to weigh in on the former. 468 Quinnell laid waste to 160 Ginge. 260 Keefy going on to take the win this time around. The DD commenced with 161 the Entertainer stopped 721 Gabriel with a head on. 333 Chaz jacked 721 Gabriel. 572 Squirt also attacked 721 Gabriel. 572 Squirt blasted 161 the Entertainer on oppo as they completed a four car train. 468 Quinnell jacked 127 Clarkey on oppo. 383 Dodger went in on 127 Clarkey. 572 Squirt attacked 468 Quinnell before 161 the Entertainer attacked the latter on oppo. 333 Chaz tboned 161 the Entertainer. 468 Quinnell blasted 799 Tomo. 333 Chaz shared a head on with 572 Squirt and 921 Aldridge and 799 Tomo did similar. 383 Dodger blasted 799 Tomo which allowed 468 Quinnell to home in for a big shot to the former. 468 Quinnell and 572 Squirt shared a few head ons with the latter bursting into flames.

The Unders Alcomers into DD began with 580 Smith-Jones running in 299 Quinton. 228 Splat blasted 580 Smith-Jones. Several drivers came together under the starters rostrum. 535 Cox jacked 580 Smith-Jones. 77 Patch homed in for a heavy shot on 580. 122 Boland attacked 721 Dudley. 909 attacked 721 Dudley on oppo. 77 Patch and 535 Cox collided on the back straight leaving the latter open for a shot from 284 Roff. 26 Robins met 721 Dudley in a head on. 284 Roff set about 254 Titty Dave, before the latter continued to meet 205 Ganter in a solid head on. 535 Cox delivered a shot on the nose of 284 Roff and then came under fire from 909 Duff. 909 Duff and 535 Cox shared hits under the starters rostrum. 909 Duff went into a flameball leaving 535 Cox to take the win. 427 Dean McPhillmey took the win of the Alcomers.
