The banger action returns to the Adrian Flux Arena on Monday May 1st for another bank holiday bonanza featuring the 2L Bangers and 1500 Bangers.
403 Daniel Jordan took the final win in the 2 Litres last time out, which has seen him be promoted to the blue grade. He will be looking to secure more points once again this afternoon. 69 Brad Bartram has continued his excellent form from last year, and has well and truly established himself as one of Trackstar’s best. Brad holds a small lead in the qualifying points and will be looking to maintain that. 589 Simon Smith is hot on his heels. The Gladiators man has had a blistering start to the season, taking multiple wins from the yellow grade, but now finds himself starting at the back of the pack with a grade change to superstar; it will be interesting to see how he fairs from there. 830 Lee White, 370 John Cobbold and 337 Ashley Garrod come next in the standings and all will be expected to be among the front runners.
51 James Licquorice tops the entertainer standings, and he hasn’t missed at all on that front so far this season. One of the most consistent crashers in our sport, James will be looking to put another top display in to keep that lead alive. He has a healthy margin over World of Shale Champion 828 Jordan Sharpe who has been another top entertainer all year. 178 Kieran Bowman completes the current top three, and as always the case with Slim, he will be getting among the thick of things to keep the pressure on the top two mounting. 129 Joe Skutela was on top form last time out, as was 459 Todd Archer who was voted second in the people’s vote. The Scrapyard Screamers are regular lively additions to the 2 Litres here at Kings Lynn, and they are back in force today – you can expect them to be around the crashing.
Turning our attention now to the 1500s, who always deliver the goods here at the Adrian Flux Arena. 730 Deane Mayes leads the qualifying for the National Championship after winning the final last time out, with 608 Lenny Murkin and 551 Brett Jackson in hot pursuit. Deano isn’t currently booked in for the bangers due to Saloon Stock Car duties, so the other two will be looking to capitalise. The 1500 ranks boast a plethora of underrated talent. 12 Troy Cobbett, 231 Alex Smith, 248 Jamie Blything, 356 Sam Hildon, 566 Tony Pallett, 594 Mason Burdett and 624 Cameron Hubbard among others are more than capable race winners.
828 Sharpey heads the entertainers points as he continues to be determined to get the front bumper put about in his hunt for the Trackstar’s Entertainer title. He maintains a strong gap above 214 Connor Osborne and 920 Kaelan Blakeman, who will both be looking at securing as many points as they can. Keep an eye on drivers such as 44 Alfie Hill, 51 James Licquorice, 83 David Loakes, 257 Ben Waddingham, 550 Phil Jackson to get in the thick of things. With the announcement of Mk5 Vauxhall Astras having to be used by the end of the year, that could encourage drivers to have a crash.
The Bangers return on May 13th for an Old Skool night with Almera & Sunny Bangers as well as All Bluebird, Primera, Cavalier, Carina and the likes; a night of nostalgia.
