Young gun going for Gold! - 284 James Head
Southampton youngster 284 James Head has made a fair impression on the scene in recent years. The twenty year old left it late to qualify squeezing through the Spedeworth World Qualifying Points at the final round at Aldershot's 4x4 meeting on the 24th September. Bryson caught up with James as he prepares for his maiden World Final appearance.
C! - Congratulations on qualifying for the World Final! You left it late! Was qualifying the aim at the start of the year?
J - The aim was to do as many meetings as possible after leaving college last Summer. At the turn of the year, I saw I was in the running so thought I'd have a go at qualifying and just made it in.
C! - You certainly raced a variety of cars at a variety of meetings this year. What meeting stood out for you and did you have a preferred car?
J - I loved the Classic Carnage meeting; thought it was great fun and it resulted in losing the whole back axle. I'm not sure you can call an Allegro a proffered car though!
C! - The Allegro wreck was fairly impressive! Do you enjoy the racing and wrecking side more?
J - You know I like both parts! I enjoy a good race round and a crash.

C! - Definitely! Obviously your crashing exploits have been demonstrated as part of the Cream Team. Rumours are going round that you have left the Cream Team, is this true?
J - Yes it is. I've enjoyed my year with them though.
C! - Thank you for clarifying that. What's the game plan for the main race?
J - Just go out and enjoy the night; see what happens! I'm happy to just be in the main race.
C! - It's certainly an achievement in itself getting on the grid! Who would you like to win it if it isn't yourself?
J - 570 Jordan Cumming
C! - Jordan does look like a strong contender! What's the chosen car for the year?
J - A Mercedes SLK, same as what I have relied on all year. A car not many others like, but I enjoy racing.

C! - Yes, not a massively favoured car among the banger nation, but as you say, one you've done well in all year. Can we see any sneak peaks at all?
J - Not at the moment unfortunately, it's nowhere near finished.
C! - That's not a problem. Sometimes the late builds are the better ones! Is there anybody you'd like to thank?
J - Ah! Just so many people! My Dad especially for all the help. Without him I wouldn't be racing. My Mum for putting up with him building cars all the time. The Reed boys who are always on hand. Joey at Wynford Tyres and all the guys at S Metal. Everyone else who has helped out throughout my racing career.
C! - Spot on! Thank you for your time! We shall hopefully see you Saturday; if not we wish you all the best!
