Sunday 19th March sees a host of meetings across the country. The most anticipated meeting of the weekend sees the final blaze of glory for U.K. Banger Racing's answer to Wembley or Jerusalem, as Wimbledon Stadium hosts it final banger meeting with the Plough Lane Classic. Although the term 'Classic' may not refer to the car type, the all Unlimited session features some classic names to provide that nostalgic feeling. The Warriors are expected to be in attendance, with 112 Sean (1986 World Champion) and 113 Carl Gallagher rolling back the years along with 84 Jerry 'Bleach' Ansell, 1997 World Final winner 33 Gary Madgwick, 1988 World Champion 627 Terry Coke and plenty of the sports leading names and entertainers, this meeting is set to provide a great farewell to the grand old lady. The Northern scene features two meetings on Sunday. Belle Vue hosts the annual King of the North meeting for 2l National Bangers, a meeting that has steadily provided some top action over the past few years. With names such as Team Grey and Black, Barrow Boys and local men 171 Tommy 'Westy Jnr' West and 526 Jak D booked in, this has the potential to provide some stellar action. Moving slightly west of the country, we have Warton Stock Car Club, where the annual 1400cc team meeting takes place. An impressive line-up of 14 teams, including the Gone Gang, Demons, Levellers, Scrappers and Team V, along with the relatively unknown Team Taxi and Team Unknown, who feature V8 Hotstox star 500 Scott 'Boderz' Bodilly, one thing for sure is that Warton will provide another hard hitting affair. The first meeting for National Bangers at Skegness Stadium under the Rob Speak era takes place for the Micro Bangers as they compete for the East Coast Championship. An expected field of 20 cars boasts former shale World Champion 673 Darren Fendley, live wire 551 Brett Jackson and rising stars 221 Jordan Storr and 93 Luke 'Scooby Jnr' Nieuwenberg, the potential is there for a steady afternoon. Continuing the Micro theme, Arena Essex hosts the first round of their Micro World Series with an impressive 50 drivers booked in. PRI regulars including World Champion 2 Georgie Lee, and brothers 364 Bradley and 577 Alfie, Midnight Runner 10 Paul Whiteman, 78 Lee Macey, 242 Ricky Korpiela among others should provide plenty of action for the day.
Whether you choose to go, enjoy your day! 🏁
